Our Idiot Brother (8/10)

posted Aug 28, 2011, 5:36 PM by David Lee

Walking into this movie I was expecting something good, nothing amazing, but something I would definitely like. It has a cast with some of my favorite actress' who each are very unique in their own way, and a guy whose humor I actually understand, I knew something good had to mixed in there.

The movie basically took everything I liked about each actress or actor and just worked on it. Zooey Deschanel is the quirky bi-sexual sister whose girlfriend is Rashida Jones who is just a straight down for any role actress and has fun with it. Elizabeth Banks plays the sexy cosmopolitan sister and Emily Mortimer is the adorable older sister.

Basically, Paul Rudd plays the most honest and nice person in the world and during the process you think to yourself, I should be that nice. In the end, I left the movie feeling that I should be nicer to people. It was just that kind of movie. Anyways, definitely a good movie to watch.

X-Men: First Class (8/10)

posted Jun 8, 2011, 4:05 PM by David Lee   [ updated Jun 8, 2011, 4:24 PM ]

Alright then, I did not like the first few X-Men movies that came out, I thought they were cheesy. Yet, I went ahead to watch this one because I felt it would be different, and I was right, it was very different. This movie was what you'd want to see coming out of a comic book.

As far as story line goes, the movie ends in a way that leaves you very intrigued to see how it all unfolds even though you know how it ends up. The character development between Xavier and Magneto is great and the acting was spot on. In the end I was very happy with the movie.

The Baxter (8/10)

posted May 15, 2011, 2:39 PM by David Lee   [ updated May 15, 2011, 3:05 PM ]

One lazy afternoon on netflix I came across this movie, and I'm glad I did. Its a, dare I say, 'cute and funny' movie. It stars funny Michael Showalter who also directed and wrote the movie and a cute and innocent Michelle Williams from Shutter Island, Elizabeth Banks and Paul Rudd also surprised me with roles in the movie.

Moving on, the movie is about a 'Baxter' which is the guy who gets left at the alter for the lead character of a typical 'love' movie and thats about it. The movie is about the life of that Baxter.

Defendor (9/10)

posted Jan 26, 2011, 8:29 AM by David Lee

I've seen this movie in blockbuster for awhile now, and by chance a friend of mine came over with it.
So on a boring Tuesday afternoon, my whole day did a 360 after watching this.

It was such a surprise to find out this movie was great. For a movie that you never hear about, it was on par with or far better than movies you see in the theaters nowadays. Woody Harrelson stars as a slightly retarded character that becomes a hero of justice on his off ours and Kat Dennings from 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' plays a up and coming crack whore to say the least. Both do a spectacular job.

All I can say is that this movie has the humor and seriousness you wish blockbuster movies had. It will make you laugh and make your jaw drop. I highly advise anyone to watch the movie.

True Grit (9/10)

posted Jan 16, 2011, 3:42 PM by David Lee

so i got to see true grit last week, and, it was awesome.
jeff bridges basically kills his role, and the premise of the whole movie was enjoyable.

in a nutshell its a simple remake based on revenge, but its done with the utmost of care.
the dialogue is amazing and the acting on point, and to top it off, its funny as all hell.

you can always count on the cohen brothers to do a great movie.
so, i would recommend you giving it a try.

Unstoppable (7/10)

posted Nov 15, 2010, 4:48 PM by David Lee

So, good movie. But, not so good movie. Why, its not that hard to hop a train even if it is going 70mph. In any case, Denzel is the man as always and Chirs Pine (guy from star trek) do a great job trying to make me not get pissed at the whole situation. Rosario Dawson, beauty that she is also does a great job pulling off a veteran train yard boss.

As much as I was upset about not being able to get on the damn train, it was a good movie. Lots of suspense, it'll definitely keep you on edge.

Due Date (8/10)

posted Nov 5, 2010, 9:06 PM by David Lee   [ updated Nov 5, 2010, 9:15 PM ]

i got the chance to watch this one with jack and mary this week,
so it was a double treat to see them and the movie.

anyways, all i got to say is "its fucking funny".
you get a mixture of zack galifianakis' idiotic humor with robert downey jr.'s sense of rationality.
its a great combination, and they both do their respective parts great.

i'd definitely recommend this to one to everyone looking for a laugh.
there are some real memorable parts in it.

Red (6/10)

posted Oct 20, 2010, 6:57 PM by David Lee

I felt daring today and took a gamble with 'Red'.
Although it had some great actors in it, I've been let down alot lately by some good actors.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, the movie was so-so.
Not bad, but not that great. Just wasn't a memorable movie like previous work the actors have done.

It was definitely not a movie to be taken serious.
Still, how could you not watch a movie with these three.

It's Kind of a Funny Story (7/10)

posted Oct 17, 2010, 10:47 AM by David Lee   [ updated Oct 20, 2010, 7:08 PM ]

So, after a boring day I treated myself to a $5 movie.
I had no idea what I wanted to watch so I just picked a random one,
and ended up watching 'It's Kind of a Funny Story'.

The movie is a calm comedy I guess, nothing to make you fall out of your seat,
but it'll definitely put a smile on your face in a good way.

The story revolves around a kid who checks himself into a psychiatric ward for being suicidal,
not knowing he wouldn't be able to check out.

All in all, it was a good movie. Zack Galifianakis is funny as always and everybody is else does a great job.

Let Me In (Score 7/10)

posted Oct 13, 2010, 7:17 AM by David Lee   [ updated Oct 17, 2010, 8:05 PM ]

well, kind of a weird first movie to add, but i just saw it yesterday.
basically the movie is a re-make of an acclaimed foreign film not made too long ago, with the same plot.

the movie is about a strange relationship between a bullied boy and a vampire that appears to be a child, it was a real interesting scenario to say the least. although a bit slow, it portrays certain emotions you don't typically find in movies because of the weird scenario.

anyways, it was a good movie. i'd recommend it for a watch if you don't mind a slow, gruesome, and cute movie.
